Class Work (Fridays)

Day 4: September 4th 
Objective: Typing and Create BitStrip Character

1. Review good typing: 
  • Sit up straight 
  • Fingers on the homerow
  • Logging into Typing Club (Should be your same username and password for the computer.  If it doesn't work raise your hand for a teacher to help you.)
2. 15 minutes: Independent Typing Practice
3. Whole Group: Return to mat
  • How to log into BitStrip (look at the instructions on the left)
  • Once you log in, complete the "Introduce Yourself" activity. 
  • Make sure when you make your character, that it is completely appropriate for school. If a teacher sees anything that is inappropriate, there are no warnings and you will lose your computer privileges for the day. 
  • Use your same password for this as you use to log into your computer
  • After you create your character brainstorm an idea for a comic that you might want to make about how to be an UPSTANDER to cyber bullying. 
  • You can use the brainstorm sheet provided by the teacher and pencils from the table. 

Day 3: Friday, August 28th
Objective: Being a good digital citizen
Key Vocab: Bystander, Upstander, cyberbullying
1. Introduction from Ms. Ashley 
  • Smartboard Lesson
2. Group Discussion on Today's Meet (at computers)
  • Students give their opinions and ideas about some discussion questions
3.Come back together as a group the answer
  • Discuss why people sometimes act differently in big groups than if they were alone. 
  • The larger a group is the more difficult it may seem to stick up for what is right.
  • Define UPstander
4. Socrative Quiz/Exit Slip:
  • Reflect on what we have learned. 
  • Take quiz: What would YOU do? 
Day 2: August 26th 
Objective: Log into Typing Club 

  1. Log into Typing Club
  2. Finished Early? Try Raz Kids and IXL

Day 1: August 19th 
Objective: Review Typing with Dance Mat Typing

  1. What is the home row and why is it important? 
  2. Independent work on Dance Mat Typing
