Extended Independent Work
This page was designed for those students who have taken extra time outside of class to get ahead of the class work, and have demonstrated proficiency in all required units. Students directed to this page may choose one or more of the choice extension units to complete. The expectation is that the work is done with the same care, concentration and precision as previous units.
Choice 1: Extension of Photoshop |
As you have recently completed a unit of Photoshop tutorials, you may continue to learn new Photoshop skills through a variety of the tutorials below.
Final Project: A Photoshop Portfolio including 5-10 edited photos of photos that you have taken yourself. Each photo must use a different Photoshop tool, and have captions detailing the tools and effects added to them. You may present this in a format/presentation tool of your choosing. |

Choice 2: InDesign |
If you have completed units ahead of expectation, and are directed to this page, you have a skill or knack for design technology. In the future, you plan to be part of our High School Publication and Design team which makes various publications for the school including; all promotional posters, banners, and programs for our Berkeley Events, the quarterly Berkeley Times, and the annual Yearbook. This choice unit is designed to prepare you for being part of the Publication and Design Team.
Final Project: Create a 8-20 page magazine on a topic of your choice. This will be printed by a professional printer, and should mimic a mini-Berkeley Times. The content that you choose is up to you, and you may choose from the following list or propose your own topic/theme.

Choice 3: Illustrator |
Illustrator is a powerful tool. It is often underestimated, but can be used to make a variety of things including posters, vector graphics, logos, and a variety of patterns and backgrounds. This unit is intended with the purpose to give you an overview of the tools and basic uses of the program. Illustrator is often used to create banners for school, as well as different graphics for our yearbook. It is a valuable tool to learn to navigate.
Final Project: Similar to Photoshop's portfolio, create an electronic portfolio highlighting the skills you have gained using Illustrator. The portfolio must include at least 3 high-quality vector graphics, 2 logos, and 3 different patterns that can be used as backgrounds. It must be presented electronically (could be on your WIX). |
